False Alarm! False Alarm! Rooney Stays With Man Utd
Was Rooney’s declaration to leave Manchester United surreal or some publicity stunt? Surprisingly enough, Rooney has realized Man Utd is where “he belongs” and that the club is ambitious enough to match his aspirations to win more trophies so he has made an about face and decided to stay at Old Trafford. For a player struggling to recapture his form, I found it quite puzzling he would question the quality of talent currently at Man Utd.Â
Yes, Man Utd could use some new signings to replace Scholes and Giggs when they hang their boots soon. Yes, the “genius” Sir Fergie has not been competitive in the past transfer periods to bring in a high profile player since the departure of Christiana Ronaldo. Yes, Man Utd has not had a great start to the season, albeit, Rooney’s misfiring.Â
Nonetheless, injuries-free, Man Utd has strong, talented, and dedicated roster with or without Rooney. How arrogant and disrespectful of Rooney to suggest Man Utd is not doing enough to surround he Rooney with quality players. I suppose Man Utd has given Rooney the ambition assurances he thought was lacking. Having signed a new deal to keep him, where he belongs, Rooney now has to let his boots do the talking to repair his reputation.
