Dear Cable:

Before I say anything else: It’s not you. It’s me.
I’ve changed over the years. I’m hardly at home. And when I am, it’s not live television I’m watching. It’s stuff that’s been queued up on my DVR for weeks. But mostly, when I’m on my couch with a remote in my hand, I’ve been…streaming. I know how wrong that must sound. But everyone’s getting their shows and movies through the Internet these days. I’m sorry. It’s just the reality of things.

I’m quitting you, cable. This will go easier if we can just admit it: We’re not right for each other anymore. I’m cutting the cord, getting rid of that white coaxial cable of yours and that clunky, dusty set-top box it’s connected to. This antenna, laptop and Roku box are moving into the living room with me because, well, they’re cheaper and slicker than you are—inside and out.

You can’t be surprised. The writing’s been on the wall since Netflix started streaming and iTunes began selling movies and LOLcats were LOLcatting on YouTube. You could even blame it on the DVR if you wanted to.

Don’t be sad. We’ve had a really good run. A crazy, devoted relationship that’s lasted decades. I’ve known you longer than my computer. My mobile phone. And all of my Nintendos.

Every time I moved, it was you I thought of first. Sure, there was electricity, but I needed electricity because I needed you. Even water—the essence of life!—was an afterthought. I could shower at the gym. I could get a jug of Poland Spring at the bodega. But there wasn’t any other way I could watch “The Sopranos” on Sunday.

Must-Stream TV

The games of just about every major sport are available through streaming.

This year’s Super Bowl will be streamed over the Internet for the first time.

Sales of Roku’s popular streaming boxes were up 300% in 2011.

It’s not rocket science: If you know how to use a DVD player, you can get Internet content on your television.

It hurts me as I write this, because I liked you. A lot. I really did. We were childhood buds. Teenage pals. I even brought you to college with me. From Nickelodeon to MTV to ESPN to HBO. My pop-cultural development, from the moment my parents let me watch television to the joint search-and-rescue efforts my wife and I hold for your 67-button remote control in our own home—how did it end up in the kitchen?—would have been lesser without you.

My life will change, I know. In the time-shifted world that is TV-over-the-Internet, I have to self-impose spoiler-avoiding blackouts from Facebook and Twitter. For as fast as things move on the Web, experiencing TV through it becomes much less of an immediate cultural experience. I’m at risk of being behind the curve at the water cooler—at least until last weekend’s “Family Guy” episode ends up on Hulu.

I know this sounds silly, but I’ll miss channel surfing. Catching the odd showing of “Ocean’s Twelve” on TBS. (You have to admit, that Capoeira laser scene is still pretty bonkers.) Stumbling upon “The Simpsons” reruns with Phil Hartman as Troy McClure. Asking myself, “Who watches local news anymore?” as I’m watching local news.

You must be thinking, “If you’re going to miss me so much, why leave? Grab a bag of Cheetos and let’s watch some ‘Frisky Dingo’!”

All Things D

Let’s be honest here. This is all selective memory. It’s the way I want to remember things. But I spent weeks before deciding to leave you watching TV pre-streaming-revolution style, just like it was 1998. Yeah, I’ve changed, but you know what? You’ve changed more.I mean, come on. How many shows about housewives are there? I like chefs, but I don’t need to see them on television 24/7. Ghost hunters? Dancing celebrities? Talent shows? “Shark Week”? Celebrity ghost-hunting talent shows during “Shark Week”? It’s too much of too little. You’re full of a lot of inescapable crap.

Don’t even bring up the “What about live sports?” argument. It’s not all pixelated highlight reels on the Internet. Local matches are available over the air with a $20 antenna. I can stream games on my PlayStation 3 through my DirecTV Sunday Ticket subscription. Even the Super Bowl—you know, one of the world’s most gigantic sporting events? It’s going to be streamed over the Internet this year.

“What about ‘Boardwalk Empire,’ huh? What about ‘Mad Men?’ ” you’re probably wondering. “You love Michael Mann—you’re going to miss ‘Luck’?” OK, so I might not be experiencing some of the most golden nuggets of television on the same day as millions of others. But you know what? That’s the way I’ve been doing things for a long time. “The Wire.” “Battlestar Galactica.” “Friday Night Lights.” That suite of shows everyone said I just had to watch? I didn’t get to them until much later. And, for the most part, I’ve been fine with that. I’ve survived.

“Don’t think you can frame the Internet as this unreliable source for premium content and dangle professional sports in front of my nose to reel me in again. I can get everything that counts over the Internet and on my TV.”

And, yes, I know there will be a new set of issues by relying on the Internet as my pipeline to television. Staring at spinning wheels and download bars as I wait for my content to load and buffer. Pixelated pictures on days when my bandwidth isn’t as robust as it should be. More typing and searching rather than leisurely channel surfing. Yeah, yeah, I get all of that. And it doesn’t bother me.

So don’t think you can frame the Internet as this unreliable, unpolished source for premium content and dangle professional sports and Emmy fodder in front of my nose to reel me in again. I can get everything that counts over the Internet and on my living-room TV.

I’ll admit it. The solution isn’t as elegant as your one-box, one-remote setup. To be able to watch the most complete array of noncable entertainment requires several services like Netflix and iTunes, an antenna and, for the nerdiest content completists, a full-fledged computer attached to your television. But it’s not as crazy and intimidating as it sounds.

How do I know? I’ve been spending quality couch time with gadgets that make the process pretty simple. I’ve rounded them up here. Don’t be jealous.

Hey, it’s not completely over. Who knows? The pathways of tech and content have been weaving in and out of each other since cave folk painted on rocks. It’s not going to stop anytime soon.

This will be good for everyone. You’ll grow. I’ll grow. The Internet will grow.

I’ve never been good at byes, so I’ll just say this: Be well.

Your pal,

Kevin

P.S. Can you cut me a deal on my Internet bill?

3 Ways to Go Cable-Free

1. WATCH LIVE TV…FREE

It’s like a dirty secret. Most of the television we watch is available free, over the air and in high definition to boot. A simple antenna will get you all of the major networks plus other regional channels. What does that equal? Most key sporting events and every network TV show.

The catch: Your reception depends on how close you are to a TV tower. Generally, roof antennae fare better than the indoor variety. To find the best outdoor antenna, go to antennaweb.org, type in your address and the site will tell you what type you’ll need. Unfortunately, finding the right indoor antenna is a trial and error process as everyone’s home is different. Get one that receives both UHF and VHF signals, be patient as you make minor adjustments to the antenna position and be sure to save your receipt.

Televisions made in the past few years have TV tuners—just plug in the antenna—but if you want a more cable-like user interface as well as a DVR, get the Channel Master CM-7400 ($400, channelmaster.com). You can browse channel lineups on a grid just as you did with your old set-top box—it gets all of the information from the Internet—and schedule recordings of your favorite shows. The box also includes access to Vudu, an on-demand movie- and TV-show streaming service.

2. GET INTO THE STREAM OF THINGS

There are several products that make it easy to access video content through the Web on your living room television without the need for a computer. For the most part, they’re all easy to use and deliver a huge, simple to browse selection of movies and TV shows through applications like Netflix, Hulu and iTunes.

To make your TV smart, all you need is an Internet connection and one of the streaming solutions shown here. But before you pony up for one of these boxes (or a brand-new TV) check your television or DVD/Blu-ray player. If it was manufactured within the last year or so and can connect to the Internet, there’s a chance it may already have access to a bunch of streaming services.

Samsung D8000 3D LED Smart TV | For clutter-haters who don’t want to deal with having any more boxes in the living room, upgrade to the D8000. It’s only 1.2 inches thick, has a gorgeous picture surrounded by a barely-there frame and Hulu, Netflix, YouTube and other services are baked right in. Finding the content you want is easy—the flip side of its remote is a full Qwerty keyboard. From $2,700, samsung.com

Apple TV | If you get most of your movies and shows from the iTunes store, this is the easiest way to shop it from your flat screen instead of your MacBook. The only other major streaming service is Netflix, but it makes up for that with access to MLB.TV, NHL Game Center, NBA.com (to watch live games on those channels, you’ll need a subscription to each) and what’s probably the most extensive collection of digital pay-for shows and movies.

If you own an iPhone or iPad, download the free Apple remote app—it’s the best option for browsing through content on both the iTunes store and Netflix. $99, apple.com

Boxee Box | It has Netflix, Vudu and MLB.TV, but where the Boxee excels is in finding free shows and movies from (legal) sources you might not have thought to look at before. All you have to do is search for the show—the remote has a full Qwerty keyboard—and if it’s on the Internet, Boxee will find it. There’s a wide variety of channels to explore as well. Later this month, you’ll be able to add a live TV tuner to the box for $49. $180, boxee.tv

F. Martin Ramin for The Wall Street JournalSony PlayStation 3

Sony PlayStation 3 | Yes, it’s a gaming console. But for those who pull their hair out over sluggish, molasses-like user interfaces (I’m not sure how I’m not bald yet), the PS3 is one of the snappiest streaming solutions available.

Browsing for stuff on Netflix, Hulu, Vudu and the PlayStation’s own video store is lightning quick. It’s also one of the best Blu-ray/DVD players you can buy. You remember those round shiny discs, right? From $249, us.playstation.com

F. Martin Ramin for The Wall Street Journal

Xbox 360 Kinect | The Xbox can stream for-pay movies from the growing Zune Video Marketplace as well as content from Netflix, Hulu Plus, HBO Go and ESPN, but what sets it apart from everything else attached to your TV are the innovative gesture commands.

You can browse through movies by swiping at them “Minority Report”-style. And voice controls—pause and play just by saying it—mean you might never have to press a button again. From $300, xbox.com

Roku LT | Roku is a pioneer in bringing streaming video to TVs. The hockey-puck-size box was developed specifically to stream Netflix but has grown to include over 500 channels including Hulu Plus and Amazon Instant Video.

The LT is Roku’s most affordable option and outputs video at 720p. Slightly more expensive variants get you a better picture and the option to play games like “Angry Birds” using the remote as a controller. Later this year, expect the Roku Streaming Stick, a thumb-size device that plugs into the back of your TV for a more minimal look. $50, roku.com

3. PLUG INTO THE WORLD WIDE WEB

Many televisions and streaming boxes provide some sort of rudimentary Web browser. Unfortunately a lot of sites where you would normally visit to watch videos are blocked when accessed on these devices. The work-around? Simply hook up a computer to the TV. With the right wires, you should be able to connect your laptop easily enough. But if you want a more elegant and permanent setup, consider these two gadgets.

Apple Mac Mini | Hard to believe, but this metal block that’s as thick as a stack of cocktail napkins is a full-fledged Mac. It’s designed to be unobtrusive: The fan is super quiet, it attaches to your television with a single HDMI cable—just like a DVD player, but prettier—and there’s only one power cord, so you don’t have to figure out how to hide another power brick behind your credenza. It can play everything you throw at it without any jitters or stutters and, for home-theater enthusiasts, it supports eight channels of digital audio. From $599, apple.com

Netgear PTVU1000 | Already have a PC laptop but don’t want to physically tether it to your flat screen every time you fire up an episode of “Downton Abbey”? This device from Netgear lets you wirelessly stream whatever’s on your laptop to your television in high definition. Just leave the small receiver attached to your TV, plug a small USB transmitter into your laptop and it’ll automatically start beaming your small screen to your big screen. $130, netgear.com

It also aims to help users easily organise contacts within groups. But some analysts say Google has simply reproduced features of Facebook while adding a video chat function.

Google, which handles roughly two out of every three internet searches in the US, has taken several stabs at Facebook in recent years. But its previous efforts ended in failure, with both Google Wave and Google Buzz proving unpopular with users.

New functions

The company is now boasting that four features in Google+ could help make the company a permanent player in social networking:

The current version of Google+ has only been released to a small number of users, but the company has said it soon hopes to make the social network available to the millions of individuals that use its services each day.

“Online sharing needs a serious re-think, so it’s time we got started,” Vic Gundotra, senior vice president of engineering at Google, said in a press release. “Other social networking tools make selective sharing within small groups difficult,” she added, taking what appears to be a jab at Facebook’s recent grouping function.

But some analysts have said Google could have a difficult time converting Facebook devotees to their new social network. “People have their social circles on Facebook – asking them to create another social circle is challenging,” Debra Aho Williamson, principal analyst with research firm eMarketer, told the Associated Press news agency.

“The whole idea of a Google social network… they’ve been throwing stuff against the wall for several years and so forth nothing has stuck,” she added.

In April, Google reached an out-of-court settlement with a US policy group over its rollout of Google Buzz, a previous social effort. The legal action claimed Google deceived users and violated its own privacy policy by automatically enrolling all Gmail users in its Buzz social network without seeking prior permission.

Toyota has announced a recall of more than 1.5 million cars worldwide over brake and fuel pump defects. The carmaker said the decision affected certain Avalon, Highlander and Lexus cars, including 740,000 cars in the US, 600,000 in Japan and 17,000 in the UK.

It wants to ensure that fluid does not leak from the brake master cylinder, causing the warning light to turn on. The fault could cause the brake pedal to feel spongy, and braking performance to “gradually decline”.

Toyota says that if the brake warning light is triggered, drivers still have another 200 miles to drive to find help before the brake performance deteriorates.

Toyota is not aware of any accidents because of the issue. The models affected in the UK are some Lexus IS, GS and RX models built between 2003-2005.

The US recall affects 2005-06 Avalon cars, 2004-06 Highlander (non Hybrid) and Lexus RX330 cars, and 2006 Lexus GS300, IS250, and IS350 cars, according to the company’s press release.

THE STORY SO FAR:

September 2009: Toyota recalls almost 4m vehicles globally on fears that accelerator pedals could become trapped in floormats

January 2010: Toyota recalls about 2.3m vehicles in the US to fix potentially faulty accelerator pedals

February 2010: Toyota’s president apologises to the US Congress and Toyota owners for safety problems that led to deaths and the worldwide recalls

April 2010: Toyota agrees to pay a record fine of $16.4m (£10.7m) in the US for failing to report defects

July 2010: Toyota recalls a further 700,000 mainly Avalon, Crown and Lexus models in two stages.

August 2010: 1.1m Corolla and Matrix cars recalled over an engine control system fault

The recall also affects 33,000 cars in continental Europe, 60,000 in China, 30,000 in Australia and 50,000 in the rest of Asia.

Car-owners will be notified early in November, and the manufacturer will arrange for the brake master cylinder cup to be replaced with a newly designed version.

The announcement follows more than 10 million car recalls by Toyota already in the past year, including 1.1 million Corolla and Matrix cars in the US and Canada recalled in August because of potentially faulty engine control systems.

Toyota has now issued 14 recalls in 2010.

The carmaker was harshly criticised for not acting sooner over accelerator pedal recalls earlier this year, and was fined $16m by US authorities.

Accra, April 8, GNA – Ghana is to host two major international Information and Communication Technology (ICT) conferences this year to promote and enhance the development of internet usage in rural communities.

They are the International Telecommunication Union Workshop on Numbering Planning and Convergence of Numbering scheduled for April 28-30, and the Fifth Annual Connecting Rural Communities Forum scheduled for August 17-19, this year.

The workshop is being organised by the Ministry of Communications in collaboration with the ITU as part of the implementation of the Doha Action Plan adopted at the World Telecommunication Development Conference in 2006.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Gideon Quarcoo, Deputy Minister of Communications, said the workshop on numbering was important because as a regulatory instrument, numbering had increased significantly with fair and transparent access to numbers being an essential part of ensuring a competitive telecommunication market.

He said telecommunication numbering was a scarce resource that needed to be managed carefully. “It is in this direction that the Ministry has included numbering as part of Ghana’s Universal Access and Service policy, being implemented by the National Communications Authority”, Mr. Quarcoo said.

According to him, ITU would provide a comprehensive understanding of key issues surrounding numbering, particularly dealing with policy and regulatory framework, management of the numbering plan, business model and methods of billing, number portability and domain name systems.

He said the workshop presented ideal training resource for professionals involved in learning more about the regulation and management of numbering in the communication sector. Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Chief Executive Officer of Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation, said the forum on connecting rural communities would explore how to enhance access to internet in those areas.

Key issues to be discussed include ICT training, rural community communication networks and local e-content generation.

Accra, April 7, GNA – A number of surveys conducted by the Consumer Protection Agency (CPA), have shown that consumers of telecommunications services are more satisfied with their telephone numbers and would like to retain them while switching to other operators. This is causing uncertainty for mobile phone subscribers in deciding on the operator who is the most suitable in providing services.

A press release issued by Mr Kofi Kapito, Chief Executive Officer of CPA and Nana Prempeh Aduhene, Head of Programme and Research in Accra on Tuesday, said the headache of switching from one network to the other to satisfy subscribers’ quest for quality service has been resolved since the introduction of Mobile Number Portability (MNP) in many countries across the world including the European Union.

With the MNP service, subscribers can choose a new service provider while retaining their previous number to receive services. This facility, which is now available for both fixed and mobile phone numbers has improved the attractiveness of the market and increased the penetration level of the product in the countries where they are in practice. MNP comes in three different approaches: change of the consumer’s physical location, change of the type of service required and change of the service provider (operator). But the latter is the main approach in offering this service.

The statement said the ability to keep one’s mobile phone number when moving to a new provider, has been a lot of headache to mobile phone subscribers in the country whiles a technology exist to make it possible. The practice is already in use in 60 countries including Europe, India , Sweden, Denmark, Greece, South Korea, Singapore, Spain, Malta and the USA.
“The Minister of Communications, Haruna Iddrissu, even before he became a Minister had been the number one advocate of the introduction of Mobile Number Portability. He had always stood for it even as a ranking member on Communications. This position is supported by numerous industry players and nearly all subscribers in the country.
“The problem, however, is that the Ministry of Communications is looking at introducing this service in Ghana in June 2012,” the statement said.
It said although the announcement created a lot of excitement among a great number of subscribers in the country, questions have started coming up as to why the ministry would like to wait for that long before introducing the concept in Ghana?

” Why should Ghanaians be made to tag on to service providers who in their estimation are not giving them the kind of service they require? It might not necessarily be that they were giving them poor service, but giving them a freedom of choice to be where they wanted to be?
“Upon the directive by the minister that communication companies register all sim card subscribers by the end of 2011, it will be prudent to introduce the Mobile Number Portability to coincide with the registration on the sim cards using the same data base.

The statement said the advantages to consumers include keeping one’s number when switching service provider, no added cost to stationary and increased value through reduced tariffs. ”The number no longer provides information on service provider, resulting in convergence of on-net and off-net tariffs. ”With the introduction of the MNP service providers who do not perform to the satisfaction of their clients might lose their subscription and would compel them to perform better.
” The CPA also believes this will enhance competition that will eventually lead to the overall benefit of the consumer in terms of cost and quality services from these service providers.
“We are therefore calling on the communications Minister and the NCA (National Communications Authority) who are the regulators of the service providers to enforce them to introduce the Mobile number portability now for the benefits of the Ghanaian consumer,” the statement added.

Sunyani, April 1, GNA -The Executive arm of government, Cabinet, last week Thursday approved the 2007 revised National Environment and Sanitation Policy for the Water and Sanitation Sector of the country. The policy, which came into force in 1999, was operational until 2006 when the need to review it arose. However, the improved document needed Cabinet’s approval before it could become operational.

Disclosing this at an Annual Review Workshop of WaterAid Ghana and partner organisations, Mr. Kweku Quansah, programme officer of the Environmental Health and Sanitation Directorate (EHSD) of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD), said the approval was indeed good news for all in the water and sanitation sector.

According to Mr Quansah, the previous policy had to be amended, because it was realised that the 1999 document did not capture some very important issues in the sector. ”One of the key issues we missed was the Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy – GPRS 1 and GPRS 2, then the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and complex issues like sanitation, like the plastics and capacity building issues that we could not capture,” he stated.

He revealed that in order to have the policy document reviewed, a lot of zonal consultations were done with a host of stakeholders, after which it was sent to Cabinet for approval. But the approved policy alone is not enough to bring change into the water and sanitation sector, he stressed.

Mr Kweku Quansah elucidated that a National Environmental Sanitation Action and Strategic Plan as well as Strategic Environmental Sanitation Investment Plan need to be validated. This, he said, will involve all stakeholders known as the National Environmental Sanitation Policy Coordinating Council (NESPoCC), a sort of advisory body in the country, in a consultative meeting, which is tentatively scheduled for April 8, 2010.

The meeting will scrutinise the National Policy, look out for omissions and advise appropriately and corrections made before the plans are outdoored. “The policy has been approved so we don’t need to touch it but we have to develop plans from the policy,” he explained.
”Once you have the plans, you have the investment plan, then you will be able to tell how much it will cost to deliver sanitation in the country, and as a lead Ministry in the country for sanitation delivery services, I think it is a good thing; now that the policy is passed we can now build on it, then validate and outdoor the two documents – the National Environment and Sanitation Action and Strategic Plan and the Sanitation Investment Plan.”
The EHSD programme officer continued that the two plans will help in achieving the targets that have been set, which include growth and poverty reduction, the medium term development framework and the attainment of the MDGs within the sanitation sector.
Touching on other steps that government has taken that will inure to the benefit of the sanitation sector, Mr. Quansah announced that political commitment had increased significantly “and once the political commitment has increased, then you have the goodwill of the politicians to help you implement the policy, because the policy is just trying to increase coverage of sanitation services.”
He said all cities in Ghana are filthy, people do not have places of convenience, and people depend on open spaces to ease themselves, which are the issues that are going to be tackled in the policy.
“The political will is there and only a little financial push is needed to achieve most of the targets of the sector within the MDGs and other development agenda”, he said.

Tamale, March 30, GNA – The Ghana COCOBOD is installing solar panels in sheanut picking communities and farms in the three northern regions to reduce the rate of snake bites and to ensure that all sheanuts are picked from the field. All communities, which are very far from getting connected to the National Electricity Grid, would also benefit from the package.

Mr. Francis Akuamoah Boateng, chairman of Strategy Security Systems International Limited (SSSIL), a company dealing in Solar panels said this on Monday when he briefed Mr. Issah Nasamu Asabgi, Deputy Northern Regional Minister, on the project. Mr. Boateng said some of the social responsibilities of COCOBOD were to provide energy to deprived communities in the north especially in sheanut picking areas.

He said a team of experts was on the ground assessing the areas and would soon start installing the lights. Mr Boateng called for the support of the Regional Coordinating Councils of the three northern regions to ensure that the company conducted the installation in a

friendly environment.
Mr. Asabgi commended COCOBOD and SSSIL for the initiative and advised them to

train community members, especially older women on the maintenance of the lights.
He said though solar power was economically useful for rural folk where incomes

were low, it was necessary for people in responsible positions to use them so that

others would patronize them.
Mr Asabgi stressed the need for SSSIL to adequately educate the beneficiary

communities on their usage before providing them with the panels to ensure the

proper use of the facility.
The Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Finance and Administration of

COCOBOD, Mr. William Mensah, announced in Buipe last year during a sod cutting

ceremony for the Buipe sheanut processing plant that government was to provide

some 2,000 solar streetlights for sheanut picking areas of the north.

Accra, March 26, GNA – The Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, is facilitating the creation of a body that would ensure the effective implementation of international environmental rules. The proposed body to be called, “Ghana Environmental Convention Co-ordinating Authority (GECCA)” is expected to work with all stakeholders involved in environmental sustainability including the Ghana Police Service and the Attorney General’s Department to enforce environmental laws.

Ms Sherry Ayittey, the Sector Minister said Ghana had signed many conventions aimed at promoting environmental sustainability however; these laws were not being implemented due to ineffective co-ordination. At a workshop to review a draft document that proposes the creation of the body, Ms Ayittey explained that Ghana ratified the Convention on Biological Diversity in 1994, Convention on Climate Change in 1996 and Convention to Combat Desertification in 1997.
“However, the implementation of these conventions has been uncoordinated at varying stages and levels. At the national level, all three conventions fall under the purview of different Ministries, Department and Agencies, which deal with them with a high degree of disconnect.”
The workshop brought together about 30 organisations made up of selected Ministries, Department and Agencies, NGOs and civil society organisations that promote environmental sustainability.

Ms Ayittey mentioned inadequate institutional capacity and limited awareness about convention obligations and benefits as well as inadequate regulatory framework as some cross-cutting problems that hamper the effective implementation of such conventions. She therefore urged participants to make necessary inputs into the document to ensure the smooth creation of GECCA.

The Minister said Ghana was the first Sub-Saharan English speaking country to start the co-ordination of these environmental conventions and expressed the hope that the project would serve as a model for other countries. Mr John Mason, Executive Director of Nature Conservation Research Centre, said the project could help Ghana achieve environmental sustainability.

Dr Nicholas Iddi, National Co-ordinator of the project, however, said a lot needed to be done to educate the public about these conventions to ensure smooth implementation of the international environmental laws.
